Now trading as Going Fishing Tackle — formerly The Matchmen Angling Centre, established 1978

The Matchmen first opened its doors over 48 years ago as a family-run business, and that's exactly what we remain today. Over the decades we've been lucky enough to meet some truly fantastic customers, many of whom have become part of our extended fishing family.

We've witnessed enormous changes in the sport — from selling 150 gallons of maggots a week in the 70s and 80s, to the modest 5–10 gallons we move today. Fishing has evolved, and so have we.

In 2002 we took the business to the next level by launching online shopping, and we now sell through our own website as well as other platforms.

Our constant awareness of the market keeps us on our toes, and we always put our customers' needs first. Going Fishing Tackle is run by experienced anglers, so if you need any advice on tackle or bait, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

In 2018 — our 40th year of trading — we took the bold step of rebranding and broadening our range. Alongside our traditional coarse and match tackle, we now offer quality specimen and carp fishing gear, as well as a growing selection of baits including groundbaits, boilies, pellets, and particles.

We also sell gift vouchers for every occasion. New products are added to the online store every week, but if you can't find what you're looking for, please contact us and we'll do our best to help.
